I've opened this Blog as a way of publishing my SBS reports collated from this new aspect (for me anyway) of my hobby of plane-spotting, using the automatically transmitted data from over flying aircraft. As not all aircraft have this transponder fitted so not all aircraft can be tracked, but almost 90% of European aircraft in the commercial weight category are, and more and more of the lighter aircraft are also coming on stream, to the extent that I've seen gliders and at least a hand-full of microlights also fitted.
I'm using a £14.26 RTL USB-dongle and a home-made antenna not one of the commercially available Radarbox or SBS-1 which cost in the region of £350.00+, so the results I've achieved so far are encouraging.
This Blog is only possible because of the dedicated hard work of all those on PlanePlotter and their associated members, who helped me get set-up, so if you have any specific questions about this aspect of spotting please visit their website and join the yahoo groups set-up for those with an interest.
So feel free to add anything you believe this blog needs to make the reader more comfortable visiting and want them to return as soon as possible.
